Hi, I'm Susanne –
an ADHD writing coach

As an ADHD writing coach for institutions, I believe ADHD writers can thrive – and I’ve spent 5+ years proving it

Susanne Schotanus of ADHD Writing Solutions

What I do as an
ADHD writing coach for institutions

I coach ADHD writers – both individually and through institutional partnerships with universities, publishers and NGOs. Whether you’re an academic struggling to keep up with publishing demands or an institution wanting to support your neurodivergent writers, I provide strategies designed for how ADHD brains actually work.

While this site focuses on institutional partnerships, I coach individual ADHD writers through my practice for individuals, Passionate Writer Coaching

I believe ADHD writers can thrive
with the right support

Though every writer is different, most ADHD academics, authors and professionals can achieve significantly more when they have access to strategies designed for how their brains actually work. That’s where I come in.

As an ADHD writing coach for institutions, I help your ADHD writers:

Set & achieve realistic writing goals

Override beliefs that no longer serve them

Build sustainable systems that create constant progress

Regain confidence in their abilities

In my 5+ years coaching ADHD writers full-time, I’ve learned that “trying harder” isn’t the solution. What actually works is ADHD-informed support – and that’s what I provide to organizations like yours.

Where I’m coming from

As an ADHD writing coach for institutions, my work is informed by my personal and professional experiences:

Susanne Schotanus at the University of Amsterdam before she was an ADHD writing coach for institutions

Academic foundation

I hold a BA in Cultural Studies and a Research Master’s degree in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam. These interdisciplinary programs taught me to analyze and improve complex texts from a variety of fields and disciplines.

Editorial expertise

I was the Director of Publications for the international research network Progressive Connexions from 2019-2022. During that time, I was also the series editor for the Emerald Interdisciplinary Connexions book series with Emerald publishing. I negotiated between authors and publishers, while providing hands-on support to authors, gaining insights into what institutions and publishing houses need from their writers, and vice versa.

Personal ADHD experience

Diagnosed with ADHD in 2005, I understand the challenges your writers face on a deeply personal level. Since then, I've developed strategies and tools to keep myself productive – and I'm now teaching ADHD writers to do the same.

Specialized focus

Since 2020, I’ve coached more than 200 ADHD writers exclusively. In that time, I've worked with institutions including universities, publishers and NGOs to provide neurodivergence-informed writing support. No one else has spent 5+ years working full-time in this specialized niche.

My core values in working as an ADHD writing coach for institutions

Relationships

It is always my aim to build genuine, collaborative relationships with both the ADHDers I coach and the institutions I serve. I don’t just deliver a service – I’m invested in your writers’ success and your institutional goals.

Understanding

I know watching talented ADHDers struggle is frustrating – I feel the same way when my clients first come to me. Luckily, I understand what they're facing and what actually works. So, you don't have to become an ADHD expert. That's my job.

Ease

I believe growth should feel sustainable, not exhausting. That's why I focus on removing barriers and friction—both for your ADHD writers (by teaching strategies that actually work) and for you (by handling logistics so you don't have to). When things are easier, progress becomes possible.
